Artist Statement

About the Artist

Linda Shaffer is an award winning Southern  Texas artist.  Her sense of humor and passion for the abstract can be seen in her sculpture, mixed media work, painting, prints, jewelry, and designs often using recycled materials.   She finds the artistic experience tremendously satisfying and takes inspiration from travel and the joy of living.    She always works in a variety of mediums at one time which satisfies her intense desire to create.  Graduate of GIA’s Graduate Jeweler program, her jewelry is available at Sheldon Gate Jewelry Designs; 3900 Hanapepe Road, Suite #2, Hanapepe, HI and at the Front Porch Gallery located at 2903 Carlsbad Boulevard in Carlsbad,  CA.   She is also the Designer and Owner of Jewelry and Art 54 located in south Texas.

The exhibition has since traveled to the Otis College of Art and Design in LA, and to the Mobius Gallery in Boston, MA, as well as becoming part of the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the LA County Museum of Art Research Library. The Queens Museum is presenting a selection of cards from the exhibition and are also asking the public, both with mailed submissions and in an artist-led workshop, to create their own postcard about death and add it to the exhibition which runs from November 1 to 15, 2009.
